The Maasai culture has a very distinct way of dress, where they use beadwork to express various things. The beads worn by women are symbols for anything from beauty, strength, marital status, and social class. The Maasai people use beaded jewelry to express their identities, positions and they are worn by both men and women. Maasai women are required to learn the trade of making jewelry from a very young age and each piece of jewelry is different from the rest. Each woman has her own unique pattern and the only thing shared between the jewelry are the colors that are distinct to each tribe.
